Obviously we have all heard the saying that college is the best time of our lives, but freshman year I was doubtful. At the beginning of freshman year I knew a maximum of 7 people out of a whopping 19,000. Talk about being a needle in a haystack, right? After being rejected by the SMAD program and being turned down for an RA position, I felt completely defeated, but almost every story has a silver lining and mine came in the form of UPB.

It was during a talk with my freshman year RA when I first learned about UPB. It sounded like an excellent organization to be involved in and a great way to help decide what events to bring to campus, so during the beginning of my sophomore year I applied to be in UPB. Flash forward three semesters and I am having the time of my life in the Special Events committee of UPB. Special Events brings fun, educational and entertaining programs to campus and have included recurring events like Cupcake Wars and Bus Trips as well as comedians such as Jay Pharaoh and The Second City comedy troupe.

Being in UPB has given me the chance to meet some amazing people and make some life long friends. The family dynamic of UPB is one that you just have to experience in order to understand. Not a day goes by that I do not regret applying to UPB.
