Center Stage can have its moments of complete mayhem and its moments of pure calmness. I love both of them an I am so happy that I chose to join UPB this year. I have gained some great friends from our committee and some really fun times. Center Stage isn’t the only thing going on in my life. Along with UPB I am also an International Affairs major, with a criminal justice minor in the honors program. I am part of Alpha Delta Pi and I volunteer downtown every week as a Sunday school teacher. Along with that I have friends and family I keep in contact with.
I love being busy though; it keeps my mind focused on the task at hand. I have mastered how to stay organized and manage my time properly. Center stage isn’t a huge time commitment. We have meetings on Mondays, and we have to do one office hour a week. Additionally, we put on two Wilson concerts and one larger Convo show per year. Center Stage is just one smaller part of the UPB team. I also choose to support the other committee’s events because they are so much fun. Obviously the most important thing to me is my schoolwork. I challenge myself to keep above a 3.5 GPA every semester because my first priority at college is to get an education, then to have fun and be involved.
The great thing about Center Stage is that I get the best of both worlds. With Center Stage I get to mix both a social life and extracurricular participation. We have outings, such as an upcoming event to Massanutten or our secret santa party before break. As well the events we put on in Center Stage are never looked upon as burdens. We get to meet the stars in music right now. Just by joining one group on campus I get the chance to meet and make connections with celebrities. I wish I would have joined UPB last year, but I didn’t know how. After Student Org Night I learned about how to apply and luckily made it through.
UPB is an amazing experience, I specifically love Center Stage and I love every moment of it. I get to hang out with awesome people, meet famous people, and have fun all at the same time.
